FAQ Friday: Saving Check Numbers

Question: When a customer tenders with a personal check, can I save the check number in TAM?

Answer: Yes.

  • Log into TAM Office.
  • Click Point of Sale and select Tenders.  The Tender window will be displayed.
  • Double click on the “Check” Tender.  The Tender Information window will be displayed.



Check the Prompt for Reference option.

Click Update to save your changes.

The change will take effect next time TAM Cash Register is launched.

When a personal check is tendered in TAM Cash Register, the Please Enter Reference window will be displayed.


Once the transaction is complete,  the information entered can be viewed on the Cash Register Journal report in TAM Office.
