Frequently Asked Questions

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another FAQ Friday blog.  Today we’re going to be discussing the importance of backing up your data.

Question:  How often should I create a backup of the TAM database?

Answer: Backups should be performed on a daily basis and saved to an external device(s).

It is easy to forget or procrastinate when it comes to creating backups for your data.  Sometimes we try to convince ourselves that our information is secure or that our hardware will stay reliable, resulting in backing up data far less frequently than we should be.  Backing up your data to at least two different locations is crucial for keeping your information secure.

There are many options regarding the location of where to store your backups.  A popular option is storing your data on the cloud, but many people also store data on flash drives, CDs, and external hard drives.  It is important to remember that if you are planning to discard your old backups, to completely destroy the tangible devices.  You can save yourself a lot of time and grief by taking the steps to back up your information.
